Dear Members of the World Arabian Horse Organization,

It is my honour and pleasure to invite you to the Kingdom of Bahrain for the 2017 WAHO Conference, which is set to take place between 6-15 February under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

We value the opportunity to share our horses and our nation’s history with members of the WAHO family from all over the world, and in the process, look forward to establishing lasting friendships with those who share passion for the Arabian horse.

My ancestors and kinsmen rode horses in combat. The horses that survived these fierce battles were the foundation stock of the Royal Stud of Bahrain. Today our stud offers a wndow into history, a ‘living’ history that Bahrain is waiting to share with you.

The stud, which was established in 1783, has over 19 desert bred families which were passed down for safe keeping throughout Bahrain’s generations. During the 2017 WAHO Conference, we look forward to showing you this group of precious mares. Horse racing is part of Bahrain’s heritage and you will have the unique opportunity to see some of these families in action on the racetrack and during the Bahrain National Championship Show, which will take place during the Conference.

In recent years private stud farms have been established on the island, and Straight Egyptian Arabian horses and many other international winning horse strains have been imported. At the WAHO Conference, you will be presented with the rare opportunity of meeting the original desert warhorse alongside Arabians of today.

As our guests at the WAHO Conference 2017, it will be our pleasure to offer you the opportunity to explore our culturally and historically rich island whilst appreciating some of the finest Arabian horses the Middle East has to offer.

Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa
